CWSAP Assembly Talk 26 April 2010

It was with great anticipation that the Cyber Wellness School Ambassadors made their first “public appearance” during the school assembly talk on April 26, 2010. In collaboration with the TNS Values Education Programme, they gave a talk on the topic “Sincerity in Cyber Space”.

Although the thought of giving a talk to their peers and teachers was daunting, our Student Ambassadors gamely took on the challenge.

The process started with a brainstorming session and doing research for relevant materials. Being members of the school Infocomm Club CCA, they used the CCA sessions to discuss ideas and come up with a Powerpoint presentation on the topic.

Keeping in mind the needs of their peers and on the topic of “Sincerity”, they included helpful tips and reminders for proper behaviour in Cyber Space. Also, recent case studies were brought up to make the content more relevant.

The attentive audience gave our Student Ambassadors their due credit. Judging by the huge beams on their faces after the presentation, Andre and Kun Ming must have realised the positive impact that they have made on their schoolmates.

A job well done, Andre and Kun Ming, Tao Nan School is proud of you!

An Interview with TNS Cyber Wellness Student Ambassadors

How do you feel now that you have completed the talk?
Andre: I’m happy that I have achieved my goals, it’s great that we’re being recognised for our hard work.
Kun Ming: I feel more courageous, and proud of myself.

How have you helped your schoolmates?
Kun Ming: We’ve let them know how important Cyber Wellness is, and how it is relevant to them.
Andre: We’ve taught them how to protect themselves when in Cyber Space.

What have you learnt from this experience?
Andre: Cyber Wellness is really important. Also, I’ve learnt how to address a large crowd, by speaking clearly and confidently.
Kun Ming: What Cyber Wellness is all about.

Do you think all the time and effort put in is worthwhile?
Kun Ming: It is definitely worth my time. I’m glad we have prepared ourselves for the talk, if not, I’d be even more scared!
Andre: Yes. If I hadn’t prepared enough, I wouldn’t have known what to say or do. I’ve learnt a lot from this experience. I’m very glad to have the opportunity to represent the school, and speak to my schoolmates as a Cyber Wellness Student Ambassador.
